Ali R. Chaudhary is a sociologist using quantitative and qualitative methods to investigate the political, economic, and socio-cultural consequences of international migration. His research interests lie at the intersection of international migration, political sociology, organization studies, race & ethnicity and the sociology of culture.

Background

Ali R. Chaudhary holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of California, Davis. He is a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Research Fellow at IMI where he his working on a European Commission funded project-Transnational Migration, Citizenship and the Circulation of Rights and Responsibilities. In this project, Ali is developing a new theoretical approach to investigate the homeland-oriented political activities of immigrants in Europe. This research also examines the relationship between political integration and transnational politics among immigrants in Europe. Ali's research has been supported by the European Commission, the University of California Center for New Racial Studies, the University of California Office of the President and the U.C. Davis Departments of Sociology and Human Ecology. His work has been published in the International Migration Review, the Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, the Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion and the International Migration Institute Working Papers Series. In January 2017, Ali will be an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
