Today IMI Research Officer Emanuela Paoletti has been mis-quoted by the Italian newspaper Il Messaggero as saying that there are 'two million desperate clandestine people' ready to land on Italian shores. This is not only factually wrong but also very dangerous

The International Migration Institute denies categorically being attributed with this false statement. In fact, as the text of the interview indicates, Emanuela Paoletti thinks that the emergency rhetoric based on the alleged invasions is both wrong and counterproductive. The academic work produced at IMI, for example by Dr Hein de Haas and Dr Paoletti herself, is evidence of the fact that we do not support in any way the 'myth of the invasion'.
