Edo Mahendra
Starting from October 2011, Edo Mahendra is pursuing a DPhil in Development Studies at the Oxford Department of International Development (ODID) and is affiliated with the International Migration Institute as a doctoral research student. The title of his research proposal is 'Essays in Empirical International Migration'. He is supervised by Hein de Haas and Mathias Czaika.

Research focus
Edo’s current research interests are the determinants of migration, the economics of migration, the impact of public policies on migration, and the interplay between migration and development. He is particularly interested in the application of multidisciplinary quantitative methods to his research topics.

Edo works on the DEMIG project (‘Determinants of International Migration’).
Background
Edo has a master’s degree in Public Management and Governance (Zeppelin University, 2011) and a bachelor’s degree in Economics (University of Indonesia, 2007). Prior to starting his research degree in ODID, he worked as research assistant at the International Monetary Fund's Jakarta Office (2007-2009) and served as tutor at the Faculty of Economics, University of Indonesia (2005-2009). He did an internship at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies, Jakarta, Indonesia (2006) and had a summer stint at the Centre for European Economic Research in Mannheim, Germany (2010) as research intern. He also attended the Financial Programming and Policies course at the IMF Singapore Regional Training Institute (2008).
