About IMI
The International Migration Institute (IMI) was established in 2006. It is a member of the Oxford Martin School and forms part of the Oxford Department of International Development, where it is based.
Our work complements a number of other institutes within the Oxford Martin School that bring interdisciplinary research to bear on the problems and opportunities of the 21st century. The School is funded by the generous benefaction of Dr James Martin, one of the world’s leading figures in information technology.

Research
We pioneer new theoretical and methodological approaches, working with researchers and policy-makers in the global South and North. Our aim is to advance understanding of the multi-level forces driving current and future migration processes. Find out more on our research page or explore the themes in the right-hand menu.
Teaching
IMI contributes to the teaching of the MSc in Migration Studies along with our colleagues at COMPAS and RSC. IMI senior research staff are also involved in supervising doctoral research students.
