Data Processing Assistant

The International Migration Institute (IMI) is seeking to appoint a Data Processing Assistant to work on the DEMIG project, funded by the European Research Council, and the new research project on the “Drivers and Dynamics of High-Skilled International Migration”, funded by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.

The successful candidate will play a supporting role in the maintenance of the DEMIG C2C migration flow database and the creation of a database with skilled and high-skilled bilateral (country-to-country) migration data. The assistant will also contribute to the creation of a migration policy database to include policies and initiatives for high-skilled professionals and international students. The candidate will be responsible for running daily operations to enter and monitor data in collaboration with the project’s Research Assistant and other team members.

Applicants should have a demonstrable interest in the social sciences, proven extensive experience of database design, data entry procedures, data management and integration on the web, excellent writing and communication skills and the ability to take initiative while working in a team. Based in Oxford, the post requires only limited travel. This full-time post is for twelve months, to start on 1 June 2012 or as soon as possible thereafter.
